Eric Holmes heads to Fontana for the “California 200” on Friday, Sept. 1. This is the 10th event on a 12-race schedule this season for the NASCAR Grand National Division, AutoZone West Series. For the past 10 years this has been considered a prestigious event. This year it may also be pivotal in determining the series championship. Drivers know a good finish on the two-mile super-speedway could boost their hopes for a title and that a poor finish could derail chances of a championship. Eric is only five points out of first place behind Mike David. This is Eric’s first run at the super-speedway but he is very optimistic about running well. Thirty cars are expected to show up.

This will mark the second time that the AutoZone West Series will compete under the lights at California Speedway. The race is to be televised live at 8:00 p.m. in high definition to a national audience on HDNet. In addition, an enhanced replay is set to air on SPEED on Sept. 14.
