Eric Holmes finished second behind M.K. Kanke in the final Southwest Series race at Stockton “99” Speedway. Eric qualified second fastest time, but started seventh with an eight-car invert. The final laps were under a green-white-checker and Eric’s plan was to catch Kanke right at the finish line. But at the restart on lap 103, Holmes said Kanke brake-checked to keep him from getting a good jump. Holmes was also tapped from behind by Eddy McKean, which made him lose some precious time and was unable to get past Kanke.

This second place finish did close up the gap some in the point standings. Eric now is only 6 points out of first and one point out of second in the Southwest Series.

The next Southwest Series race on the schedule will be held at Irwindale Speedway on August 12th.
